WHP President and Secretary publish Nature Physics comment on the cause

Our committee members Miriam Peña-Alvarez and Julia Contreras-García have published a comment in Nature Physics on the Women in High Pressure organisation titled "An initiative towards better representation in high-pressure research". The comment discusses how we tackle gender imbalance and drive inclusion, visibility, and systemic change. Please read this excellent article here.

The 2025 Women in High Pressure survey results are out!

Thank you to everybody who participated in the 2025 Women in High Pressure survey at the AIRAPT conference! We had a huge number of responses, which have allowed us to collect up-to-date statistics on gender disparity in the field. You can find a summary and a PDF of the results here.

Postdoctoral Researcher Position at Néel Institut

Collective modes of electronic quantum orders studied by Raman spectroscopy

The Néel Institute in France/Grenoble has an opening for a postdoctoral associate to work on the collective modes of quantum electronic orders, such as superconductivity and charge-density-wave, by Raman spectroscopy, in the context of funded ERC project HiggS2. The successful candidate will work on bulk compounds, such as superconductors with unconventional electronic and structural properties, for the quest and the study of their collective modes.
The postdoctoral scientist will conduct experimental research using Raman spectroscopy under extreme conditions, at low temperature, under high pressure or uniaxial strain on a unique set-up, and under very high magnetic field (in large facilities, in Europe). The successful candidate will carry out research while participating in the supervision of PhD students and the improvement of the in-lab set-up to achieve an unprecedented range of conditions.

The application deadline is 1st April 2025.

Recruitment for an open position at Oak Ridge National Laboratory!

Oak Ridge National Laboratory is recruiting a R&D Associate (High Pressure Quantum Materials Science), you may be interested!

"This position provides high pressure R&D support for the suite of scattering instruments at the SNS and HFIR. You will grow a complimentary scientific portfolio with a focus on, for example but not limited to, quantum materials, hydrogen-rich materials or other relevant high pressure topics. You will use this to foster a research program in high pressure materials science, lead relevant developmental efforts, provide guidance to the scientific staff and user community, and serve as the scientific point of contact for high pressure development, experimentation, and operation. There will be ample opportunity to lead many of the currently ongoing cutting-edge efforts and you will be an integral part of high-pressure research at ORNL’s Spallation Neutron Source (SNS) and High Flux Isotope Reactor (HFIR)."
